Terms of Service

Effective July 4, 2026

Welcome to StoryHouse. These terms govern your use of the StoryHouse service. By creating a StoryHouse or using the service, you agree to them. StoryHouse is currently offered as a private beta to invited families.

The service

StoryHouse helps a family gather a loved one's life story, one gentle question at a time, and assemble the answers into a private family page and a short film. Questions are delivered by email and/or text message, and answers may be given by voice, video, or writing.

Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a StoryHouse. You are responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your account secure. Sign-in is passwordless, using a one-time link sent to your email.

Consent to contact a storyteller

When you add a relative's email address or mobile number, you confirm that you have that person's permission to have StoryHouse contact them on your behalf. You are responsible for ensuring the person has agreed to receive these messages.

Text messaging terms

By providing a mobile number and selecting text message delivery, the recipient agrees to receive recurring life-story question messages from StoryHouse. Message frequency varies by the schedule chosen — typically one to several messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. See our Privacy Policy for how message data is handled.

Your stories belong to your family

The recordings, transcripts, photographs, and stories your family shares remain yours. StoryHouse does not claim ownership of your content. We use it only to provide the service to you.

How StoryHouse uses AI

StoryHouse uses AI to help shape answers into readable stories. Every AI-generated draft is a suggestion that a family member reviews and approves before it is kept or published. StoryHouse does not invent facts, and nothing is published automatically.

Acceptable use

Use StoryHouse only for its intended purpose — keeping the stories of people who have agreed to participate. Do not use it to send unwanted messages, to upload content you do not have the right to share, or in any unlawful way.

Payments, timeline, and project completion

The Founding Client film is $1,500 when paid in full, or three production-based payments of $525 ($1,575 total): the first to reserve your film, the second once your interviews and materials have been submitted, and the third before your completed film is delivered. This is not a monthly subscription — the schedule follows the stages of production, and the difference reflects the split-payment option.

Each StoryHouse project must be completed within 60 calendar days of purchase. The client is responsible for completing interviews, submitting materials, reviewing drafts, and providing feedback within the deadlines provided by StoryHouse.

If the client does not respond or submit required materials for 14 consecutive days, the project may be placed on hold. Projects that extend beyond the 60-day completion period because of client delays may require a $250 reactivation fee before production resumes. Payments already made are nonrefundable.

Beta service; disclaimers

StoryHouse is provided "as is" during the beta, without warranties of any kind. We work hard to keep your stories safe, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, StoryHouse is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be reflected by a new effective date. You may stop using StoryHouse and request deletion of your account at any time.
